GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Since high school I have had an insatiable hunger to learn. It wasn't that I didn't have the ability to learn in my intermediate years, it was more that I wasn't encouraged to strive to great heights in the classroom. I now enjoy learning about many different things, most of which pertain to the sciences. If I can, I would like to share this interest with those around me, particularly with those that may not be receiving this encouragement at home.
I have had some tutoring experience as a volunteer with the Minnesota Literacy Council. I primarily worked with Spanish speaking adults and adults from East Africa, often times their English level was even below basic abilities. This required creative and energetic means to get the point across.
After working as a tutor I was able to work as an English teacher in a language school in Taiwan. There I worked with students ages 4 to 17. These classes were often in the evening after the students had gone to a full day of regular school, so the best means to teaching these students was with high energy, inconsistency and many games.

APPROACH TO TUTORING: As a tutor I am very engaged with the student's needs. I devote the whole of my energy to helping that student learn. Additionally, I have the ability to pay particular attention to details where the student may be struggling. I also have a kind heart and feel satisfied when I can help someone in need.
