GENERAL EXPERIENCE: While completing my bachelor degree I found my tutoring experience was one that I found to be very enlightening. It opened my eyes to what it was like from the teachers prospective. I was a teaching assistant responsible for one section of Anatomy students. My duties mainly pertained to the lab portion of the course. I would prepare the cadavers and all activities for lab twice a week as well as prepare and correct tests and daily quizzes. I also set aside time in the week where I would be available in the tutoring room or host an open lab. As I mentioned above, open lab would be considered test prep. I would pull out the cadavers, models, any histological slides that would be tested on, and be there as a resource for the students. I would help answer any questions or teach students different methods that I had used to learn the material when I was in their shoes. I also sent out e-mails frequently with various web site links that I had come across when I studied the material. Especially with a cadaver based Anatomy course, and not to mention minimal time with the object of the test-additional resources are essential in successfully learning the anatomy of the body.
In addition to my academic tutoring experience I also completed an internship in Alajuelita, Costa Rica through the Foundation for Medical Relief of Children. While I was there I educated the Nicaraguan refugee families on ways to stay healthy, distinguish good and bad drugs, as well as how to use medications safely. I believe this experience has completely humbled me, and also broadened my prospective on the way that people learn and perceive information.

APPROACH TO TUTORING: In continence as to what I had mentioned before, I believe everyone learns differently. And because of this, I believe that you need to be flexible in the way that you teach and find what works for each student. One person may need a model kit to physically see how an organic molecule is
configured and another may not. I do however, believe in being prepared and in order to learn, you must study. So as long as there is a student out there willing to put in 100% I am willing to put in 110%
