GENERAL EXPERIENCE: I currently hold a B.A. in Spanish from the College of St. Benedict, St. Joseph Minnesota, and a M.A.-ABD from Prescott College, Prescott Arizona in Hispanic Literature and Culture of the Caribbean. My thesis project entails the development of various language learning materials, and to complete the project I have researched many areas of foreign language learning, including the relevance of motivation in higher language acquisition.
I have over 10 years of experience studying the language and culture of Spain and Latin America. I have been tutoring and teaching Spanish for 9 years, both in formal classrooms as well as one-on-one. I have traveled to over 14 different countries, including a semester abroad program with the College of St. Benedict, and performing field research and working in the Dominican Republic for over a year.

APPROACH TO TUTORING: My tutoring style is based mainly on motivation and individual curriculum development. For the student to learn a foreign language, he or she must be motivated to learn it. To be motivated to learn, I find a way for the learner to become interested in the topic. Once the motivation is there, then the curriculum is designed appropriately based on the student's individual learning style, ensuring the highest acquisition of the language.
