GENERAL EXPERIENCE: I have been teaching mathematics for the last eight years. I am able to assist students by providing help in a positive atmosphere. Often Algebra 2 is difficult because the student has gaps in Algebra 1 knowledge. I can quickly assess a student's learning gaps and help fill those gaps while keeping up with the current work.

APPROACH TO TUTORING: My mantra that I profess until my students tire of hearing it is, "Mathematics is a lousy spectator sport." You have to do mathematics to understand it. I do not bring a pencil to my tutoring sessions. The student has already watched somebody wave chalk or a white board marker. Now is the time for the student to do the math. Some tutors hold the pencil, complete the problem and then ask the student if they got it. My students hold the pencil and do the problem. I will guide them as necessary but they do the problem. Additionally, once the student understands a topic, I will have them demonstrate their understanding by completing a few problems completely independently.
