GENERAL EXPERIENCE: I worked for one semester as a tutor at a middle school. I spent time with students and encouraged them to finish their homework while they were able to ask for help and use me as a resource. I had 10 students and worked with each one in a one-on-one situation. Overall, I performed all the major duties of a tutor while I was working at the middle school.

APPROACH TO TUTORING: I would encourage students to do their work first on their own. Then I would have them ask for help if they were unable to do the work by themselves. I would help them find the work and go through a few sample questions that were similar. Once the student seemed to have the right answers for the sample work I would watch as they worked on the real questions. My style is for the students to do the work and have me there to watch them and point them in the right direction, but not give them the answer.
