   History
GENERAL EXPERIENCE:     My passion for teaching started in high school where I was a teacher's assistant for the Ancient Civilizations class and tutored younger students with English and Algebra. This continued in college where I helped local high school students with SAT/ACT Prep, as well as volunteering for peer tutoring in English. In graduate school, I tutored GRE Prep. Also, I taught multiple sections of Anthropology 101 Recitation, which involved curriculum development (lecture, activities and exams), grading (weekly papers and exams) and maintaining grade books. Additionally, as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, I graded papers and exams, maintained grade books and guest lectured for Anthropology 101-Introduction to Anthropology and Anthropology 230-Cultural Anthropology.
APPROACH TO TUTORING:    My tutoring style involves first assessing by which method a student will learn best, either kinesthetic, visual, auditory, or reading/writing preference then tailor the lessons to best fit the student. A one-size-fits-all approach to education puts students with learning difficulties or disabilities at a disadvantage so it is imperative to understand by which method a student is most engaged, motivated and retains knowledge. This keeps learning fun and prevents the student from feeling discouraged, "stupid" or that the subject matter is "too hard."
