GENERAL EXPERIENCE:     As an educator I enjoy working with diverse students, culturally, ethnicity and socio-economically. I visit the family and find out out what their needs are. Most of my students need working materials and so on that first visit I make a note of what I need to get. After finding the student levels, I set my own entry tests which is to assess the ability to read first and write. I do the same for other subjects. I explain my expectations in the best way I can so there is no anxiety or fear for who I am. My expectations are: To be on time otherwise to call me if they cannot make it. To bring all the materials such as textbooks, required for each session. To be relaxed and to ask question when they need to. I ask them to tell me what their goal is and we will discuss how the student is going to achieve it. After 5 sessions I will ask them to give me a feedback and we will go over some adjustments that are needed to be made. If there is a need we will repeat this feedback session.
APPROACH TO TUTORING:    Students need to be motivated to learn and I do just that. Respect is important and I will have them feel accepted. My patience is vital in the whole process but at the same time I have my students know that it is their responsibility to work towards achieving their goal. I make it clear that I am not going to do the work for them. If I do that they are not to learn much. My job is to facilitate their work. I often give some supplementary or modified work to give them extra practice on the concept they are working on especially when I see that they are struggling. I am always committed to have my students succeed in what they do.
