  GENERAL EXPERIENCE:     I have a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering. I have been a math tutor for the past 2 years. I have tutored Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Pre Calculus and Calculus. I am familiar with many of the school district's textbooks. Currently, I am taking courses through Bemidji State University for my 5-12 Math Teaching License. I anticipate graduating at the end of 2010. I am passionate about mathematics, technology and sciences.
  APPROACH TO TUTORING:    I recognize that students differ in their learning styles. I adjust my teaching to adapt to the student's preferred style. I believe it is very important to understand concepts instead of memorizing steps. I believe many students struggle because of a lack of confidence. As I tutor, I also work on a student's self-confidence. I do this by always being encouraging and identifying lacking prerequisite skills that may be preventing a student from understanding current concepts. I teach those skills first and build to the current skills.
