GENERAL EXPERIENCE: I am a late entrant to teaching. Having worked in a number of industries I bring experience to teaching and tutoring that is real, applicable and helps students see the value in their school subjects. I incorporate subjects outside of the science curriculum to help students see the connections in all aspects of their academic life.
I am highly adept at developing multiple means of explaining concepts and making real-world connections to the subject under consideration.
I use humor and acting to give students an emotional hook on which to attach concepts and to make the subject more interesting and approachable.

APPROACH TO TUTORING: I make extensive use of Socratic dialogue in order to help students use prior knowledge to develop new connections to their knowledge base. I find hyperbole and humor effective tools for bridging the gap between a student's current understanding and their understanding goal.
